NEVE NORTHWOOD and JESSICA D'ALBA IN PUBLICITY SHOTS LOOKING MUCH MORE GLAMOROUS THAN THEY USUALLY WERE IN THIS SERIES)

This adventure series was an undeclared sequel to the 1945 serial SECRETS OF SKULL VALLEY, basically by using the set-up on two half-sisters played by NEVE NORTHWOOD (Neve Campbell) and JESSICA D'ALBA who use their interest in their late father's gold mine to establishing a trading post (run by Jessica) and charter airplane service (run by Neve). The trading post called "Yukon Gold Outfitters & Air Service". The girls (as in the serial) usual get into a fight with each other at least once a picture, but can always be counted on to team up against assorted female troublemakers.

The series was the second successful "team-up" series for Jessica D'Alba who had been Camilla Bellamy (Camilla Belle's) co-star in a series of popular films from 1942-1944.

"Of course those movies were set in the South Seas or Mexico and we wore a lot sexier outfits than the jeans and flannel shirts you had to wear in a place like the Yukon," Jessica D'Alba has remarked. "Yet somehow they always found a way for us to be a steam room or a shower--or better yet, tight longjohns. Neve and I liked to call them 'our flannel catsuits'."

The series was produced, written and sometimes directed by the team of Joseph King and Marlene Daughtery who had been two of the writers on the "Skull Valley" serial. King and Daughtery tended to be ignored by most D-A scholars until the re-discovery of their 1948-49 feature films AND PRESUMED DEAD (1948), VAMPIRE BRIDES FOR JUSTICE, and SHADOWS OVER RAVENSWOOD at which time it was realized what became known as the "KD Girls" got their starts with supporting roles in various Yukon Gold films.

THE FILMS:

YUKON GOLD (1946)

NORTH TO ADVENTURE (1946)

SISTERS OF THE YUKON (1947)

YUKON TRAILS TO DANGER (1947)

THE GIRLS FROM SEATTLE (1947)

LOOTERS OF THE YUKON (1948)

STORM OVER THE YUKON (1948)
